Join us for Vesper Services held throughout the year!
Now through the end of May 2010, Pastor Scott will enlighten us all with a sermon series on the Book of Revelation.
Pastor Scott says...
I once read that Billy Graham said that we should not be too worried about the world because he had read the end of the Bible and, “It all works out ok!” Actually not too many people actually do read the end of the Bible – the last book of Revelation that is. Revelation is a much misunderstood, and much ignored book of the Bible because its language is coded and odd to us. Like Billy Graham said, however, Revelation is a book that presents a vision of the world coming to the ultimate conclusion that God has planned for us. It is also a book written to bolster the faith of a persecuted and world-weary community of believers. There is actually much good news to be mined from this last book of the Biblical text and that is just what I plan for us to do this month! From now until Pentecost Sunday, our lectionary texts will include a passage from the book of Revelation and I want to invite you to learn more about this book of the Bible in worship when I will be delivering a series of messages I like to call, “It Ain’t Over Till It’s Over!” (Can you Yogi Bera fans tell that I am really enthused about the beginning of baseball season?). Revelation is a book of special biblical literature about the end of times, about the world being ‘over’ but the vision of God’s acceptable day was actually given to John in order to comfort and encourage the faithful in the here-and-now. I am enthused about this series of messages on this unusual book of the Bible and I hope you will be too. Invite a friend and come to church to experience the good news hidden in this incredible vision of God’s plan for the ages.
Love Pastor Scott
